Making sure the fuel filter in the generator is clean is an important part of generator maintenance. If the lights are flickering and the machines are randomly turning on and off, it’s likely the fuel filter needs to be changed. This section goes over how to change the fuel filter.
- Open the generator panel and locate fuel filter.
- Be sure to wear gloves as diesel will spill out.
- Flip the white lever up so you can access the metal top.
- Turn the metal top clockwise until it comes off and carefully remove the tube.
- Pull the fuel filter out.
- Push the new filter in and screw the tube and metal top back in by turning counterclockwise.
- Pull the white lever down and close the generator pane door.
